Manuel Noriega, Model Latin Dictator

Manuel Noriega, easily the most fearsomely-named Latin American dictator of the 20th century, has been extradited to France and placed in prison. Up until this point, Noriega had been languishing in a Miami jail. It's not really that tough if they let you wear your military uniform, watch TV, write manifestos, and have your own quarters. They probably let him orate from the prison balcony to the other inmates, too.

Noriega was Panama's defacto dictator from 1983 until 1989. While glam-rock climbed the Billboard charts, Noriega climbed Panama's power structure and declared himself supreme dictator. While Billie Jean pounded through stereos across America, Noriega billy-clubbed dissidents.

I raise my glass of prohibitively-priced Cognac to never saying you're sorry, no matter how much the media drags your good name through the mud. After all, it's only been a few years since you were telling them what to report in the first place, right?

In the spirit of Latin-America's love-affair with dictatorship, I've decided to create a test of sorts. What might you be named had you been born into Caribbean or Latin American political privilege? Better yet, what would you have done with that privilege? I would have been a merciless dictator. And my name, well...
My Latin Dictator Name is is Jacinto "Partido Autentico" de San Cristobal.

Have fun imagining your crowds of admirers and political supporters, but remember they get fickle when you don't keep them in line.
