The Quotable Secret Policeman

After a long day of jailing dissidents, sending families to labor camps, and opening questionable mail, any secret policeman can grow weary. The state depends on you, and you have to show them you care about the little guys. Precisely, what are the little guys plotting? Who are the little guys talking to, and how soon are you going to extract information from them? I've collected some heartwarming quotes to soothe the soul of any languishing secret police officer. Think of these while you shine your boots and polish your binoculars.

"If an extra thousand people will be shot, that is not such a big deal"
- Nikolai Yezhov, Soviet Secret Police Chief

"Without mercy, without sparing, we will kill our enemies in scores of hundreds. Let them be thousands, let them drown themselves in their own blood. For the blood of Lenin and Uritsky … let there be floods of blood of the bourgeoisie – more blood, as much as possible."
- Krasnaya Gazeta, Red Army Newspaper

"Shoot first and inquire afterwards, and if you make mistakes, I will protect you."
-Hermann Göring, Gestapo Chief

"You have two hours left in which to confess everything. If you don't, I shall hand you over to the Gestapo, who are used to dealing with such gangsters and criminals — you won't enjoy their methods a bit."
-Reinhard Heydrich, Gestapo Chief

"Oppression is the essence of power"
- Ernst Kaltenbrunner, Gestapo

"I admire you, but in the end everybody talks."
-Klaus Barbie, Gestapo

Now I know you're ready for another hard day of listening out in the windswept streets. That careless table conversation at the pub is sure to draw your all-hearing ear. Remember, every bit of information you collect is another gem in the basket of our glorious state!  A gem that will be thrown into the mud and crushed to a pulp.
